BITCOIN WENT FOR A SMOKE. CASINOS SWITCHED TO DOLLARS.

Stablecoins made up around 75% of casino crypto deposits in an iGB/RYKI sample. BETDILLA explores how the crypto revolution reinvented the dollar and what the evidence really proves.

The crypto revolution promised to make traditional money obsolete. A few years later, crypto casinos are embracing digital versions of the US dollar. Somewhere, Bitcoin's marketing department is lying face down on a keyboard. An awkward family dinner is unfolding in crypto gambling. Bitcoin is reminiscing about the good old days. Ethereum is explaining the technology. USDT and USDC are quietly walking away with the cashier. Stablecoins represented approximately 75% of crypto casino deposits in a recently reported research sample. That's the headline from an iGB Intelligence study produced with digital-asset services provider RYKI, highlighted again on November 3. Apparently, players love blockchain technology. Especially when they don't have to wonder what their deposit will be worth fifteen minutes later.

REVOLUTION CANCELLED. BRING DOLLARS.

The report draws on six weeks of on-chain deposit data collected in March and April 2026. Its central argument is that crypto gambling increasingly looks like ordinary dollar-denominated gambling running on blockchain infrastructure. USDT and USDC let users transfer value without linking every casino balance to Bitcoin's price movements. Crypto was pitched as an escape from the old financial system. And one of its biggest success stories is a digital version of that system's favourite currency. DECENTRALISE EVERYTHING. EXCEPT OUR LOVE OF DOLLARS.

75%. PLEASE DON'T CALL THAT THE ENTIRE PLANET.

Now for the uncomfortable part of the press release. The 75% figure comes from an iGB report developed in partnership with RYKI. It is not a census of every crypto casino in existence. The public summary identifies the six-week observation period, but does not fully disclose the operator sample, network coverage or whether the percentage is calculated by transaction count or deposit value. RYKI sells the settlement, custody and treasury infrastructure that the report discusses. That doesn't make the findings false. It does give the research partner a commercial interest in the conclusion. A payments company has discovered that gaming needs better payment infrastructure. Remarkable. Next week, we look forward to an umbrella manufacturer confirming the continued existence of rain.

BITCOIN, PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE CASHIER.

Independent research supports the broader direction. In June 2026, blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs analysed on-chain gambling activity across eight blockchains. It estimated that stablecoins accounted for roughly 70% of cumulative on-chain gambling volume since 2022: approximately $117 billion out of $169 billion. That's a different metric from the iGB/RYKI deposit figure. Different timeframe, methodology and denominator. Bitcoin's share is particularly awkward for the original crypto revolutionaries: TRM estimated that Bitcoin represented about 36% of studied on-chain gambling volume in 2022, falling to roughly 2% by 2025. The coin that started the revolution is now the honoured guest nobody remembered to tell about the new venue.

PLAYERS CAME TO SPIN. NOT TO TRADE BTC.

Volatile crypto introduces a second risk into gambling. A player can win a casino round yet find the fiat value of their balance has fallen because the underlying coin moved. Or vice versa. Stablecoins generally reduce that particular price uncertainty, although issuer, reserve, redemption and freezing risks remain. Operators also have an obvious incentive: managing deposits, payouts and liabilities is simpler when the unit of account is more predictable. The customer came to gamble on the reels. Why make them trade crypto at the same time?

DEAR BANKS, YOUR WITHDRAWAL IS STILL PROCESSING.

The iGB/RYKI report makes a broader argument about payment infrastructure. Traditional cross-border transfers may take several business days, while blockchain settlement can occur substantially faster. RYKI cites card-processing costs and potential savings for operators. Those figures are highly dependent on geography, network, payment provider, banking partners and compliance requirements. A blockchain transfer settling in minutes does not guarantee that every customer receives local fiat in their bank account in minutes. When users can send digital dollars in minutes, 'your withdrawal will arrive in one to five business days' starts sounding like a fax from 1998.

HELLO, COMPLIANCE. MISSED YOU.

There's one less glamorous detail behind all this speed. Custody. Wallet screening. Sanctions checks. Source-of-funds verification. Licensing. The difference between the gambling operator and its payment provider. The iGB/RYKI analysis highlights evolving regulation, including Europe's MiCA framework and the US GENIUS Act. A casino can't solve everything by installing a shiny 'Deposit USDT' button. Someone still has to hold the funds, screen the flows and answer difficult questions when regulators come knocking. Blockchain may remove some intermediaries from a transaction. It hasn't managed to fire the legal department.

BETDILLA VERDICT: THE CRYPTO REVOLUTION ENDED IN ACCOUNTING.

Our view: gamblers and operators didn't need another financial religion. They needed payment infrastructure that doesn't get in the way. Faster deposits. Faster withdrawals. Less friction from currency conversion. And fewer mornings spent discovering that yesterday's balance has decided to lose value all by itself. But the industry shouldn't turn that practical demand into a fairy tale where risk disappears alongside banking fees. Stablecoins carry issuer, custody, reserve, redemption and regulatory risks. Fast transactions are worthless if the activity itself isn't compliant. BITCOIN PROMISED A FINANCIAL REVOLUTION. CRYPTO CASINOS PICKED THE DOLLAR. JUST WITH A DIFFERENT SEND BUTTON. Beautiful. We invented the future of money. And put the dollar right back inside it.
