The headline number.
France's licensed online gambling market generated approximately €1.45 billion in GGR in the first half of 2026, an 11% year-on-year increase according to reported ANJ data.
Online outpaces the wider market.
The broader French gambling figure cited in the report, excluding casinos and gaming clubs, was €5.66 billion in GGR, up around 0.5%. Online growth therefore appears substantially faster than that aggregate.
What operators and affiliates can infer.
Higher GGR is not automatically higher profit or player growth. Acquisition costs, customer retention and advertising constraints still decide whether an opportunity is attractive.
Why local rules matter.
France is a regulated market with distinct rules for eligible products and marketing. Copy-pasting a winning playbook from another GEO without checking those rules is a shortcut to trouble.
