Who gets to appear in search ads?.

European gambling regulators have been discussing ways for platforms to verify licensed operators. Dutch KSA chair Michel Groothuizen has described work around a list of authorised gambling brands.

Why the idea is gaining traction.

Cross-border promotions by operators without local permission remain difficult to tackle. Regulators are looking beyond fines towards closer work with ad platforms and payment providers.

What this might mean for affiliates.

If licence verification becomes part of ad approval, affiliates will need to align the brand's legal entity, GEO and traffic channel more carefully. There is no confirmed rollout date or full eligibility rulebook yet.

And Meta?.

Meta representatives have also engaged with regulators, but participation in building this particular list has not been established. Do not assume identical changes across platforms.
